At Mainely Mauxies and Doxies we hand raise our puppies at home and spoil them rotten. The puppies are always raised around other dogs, children and cats. They will be dewormed, micro chipped, with full vet checks, health guarantees and their first round of vaccines. We are proud to be a Mauxie and Dachshund breeder
Mauxies are a medium sized non shedding, hypoallergenic dog. Known to have long life spans, they are incredibly smart, great critter hunters, loyal, and very easy to train. Mauxies make a perfect fit for any loving family, or active couple or individual.
If your dog needs are not specific to size and coat, we would prefer you look at your local shelter or humane society first for a pet that suits your needs. We don't breed for profit and never will. Harvest Hills Animal Shelter or Conway Area Humane Society are a great option.
A Mauxie is a cross between a Dachshund and a Maltese. These hybrid dogs are recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club, and can be registered on their website. They are a unique, small to medium sized dog breed that comes in all shapes and sizes and are usually rare to find.
At Mainely Mauxies and Doxies our Mauxies are heavy on the Doxie. The puppies are a 75% Dachshund, 25% Maltese Mix. Our Mama, Molly, is a Purebred Miniature Long Haired Dachshund. Papa Marvel is a 50/50 "Mauxie" with half Miniature Dachshund and half Maltese.
A Mauxie takes on the temperament and personality of both the Dachshund and the Maltese. Known to be clever and curious, they love the outdoors and can make great hunting dogs as well. They are a playful breed excellent with children when properly trained. The Mauxie is loyal and protective and makes a perfect addition to any household.
The Dachshund originates from Germany where the dogs were used for hunting badgers. In fact, this pup's name when translated from German means "badger dog', "dachs" meaning badger and "hund" meaning dog.
Dachshunds are friendly, intelligent, lively, and brave. Although entertaining, they can be stubborn, which can make training difficult. Dachshunds make excellent watchdogs and you can be sure you'll know if there is a stranger nearby!
Dachshunds make amazing companions. When starting as a puppy, he will be good with children and other furry housemates you may have. However, the breed can be suspicious of strangers, so be sure to supervise your Dachshund when kids he doesn't know come to play.
Molly is a sweet, tough, loving snuggle bug who immediately stole our hearts. She is smart and curious, and I'm quite sure she has no idea just how small she is. Don't let her size fool you though, this little lady has a Super Sized Mighty Mama's Heart.
Lucy came to our pack after lots of research, a little more research and then a very long wait! She is AKC registered, loveable, playful and just the best Mama for our pups old and young. She fit into our life perfectly from the second I picked her up!
Marvel was our very first taste of the "Mauxie" breed, and boy does he measure up. He is protective and playful, loyal and incredibly smart. He has all the best traits of each breed and I swear he knows just what you need, right when you need it. Usually a perfectly placed kiss.
Dex is a very special boy. My dream dog (Dapple Dachshund), whom I drove halfway across the country and back for, almost didn't survive puppyhood. Dexter is an AKC registered black and tan dapple that survived Parvo at ten weeks old. He is the goodest boy who always has something to say. Playful, smart, snuggly, and so very strong, we are so lucky to have him.
Our babies are adopted quickly, so reach out to reserve your furever friend or to ask any questions.
